Study On The Mechanism Of Green Supply Chain Management Drivers And Its Impact On Practices

With the increase of competition, the improvement of consumer awareness of "Green" and the the deterioration of environmental conditions, the requirements of people on the manufacturing enterprises’green supply chain management (GSCM) become higher and higher. But what confused many researchers is that the level of manufacturing enterprises’ GSCM is still very low. To promote manufacturing enterprises to actively implement green supply chain management, and improving the level of green supply chain management, most researchers are turning to explore the contents of GSCM drivers. While little research pays attention to the drivers of GSCM, and with the progress of the times, the new drivers continue to emerge. In addition, the study on the mechanism of GSCM drivers (government involvement, competitor pressure and customer pressure) impact on practices is relatively less and did not draw a consistent conclusion.We focused on the following questions:(1) what is the scope of GSCM drivers impact on GSCM practices (green purching, internal environment management, green design, investment recovery)?(2)What are the main drivers of GSCM practices?(3) Whether the public opinion constitutes a new driver? If it is a new GSCM driver, what is the mechanism and scope of it impact on GSCM practices? Using survey data collected from ISO14001certified organizations from Zhejiang Province, we test our hypotheses through factor analysis, regression analysis, and Mediator analysis.The main conclusions of this study are:First,"public opinion" constitutes the new GSCM driver and has the direct effect on the GSCM practices; Second, there are positive correlations between the GSCM drivers(government involvement, competitor pressure, customer pressure) and GSCM practices,"public opinion" has limlited impact on the GSCM practices, it only has positive impact on "green purchasing" and "internal environmental management"; The last,"government involvement" is the main driver of "green purchasing" and "green design","internal environmental management" is the greatest affected by the "competitor pressure","public opinion" followed,"government involvement" and "competitor pressure" have the same effect on "investment recovery ".The innovation of our study is:we investigate the main driver of GSCM practices and the scope of GSCM drivers impact on GSCM practices. Further, we find a new driver "public opinion", and clarify the mechanism of "public opinion" impact on GSCM practices. The findings of our research enriched the theoretical research in the field and can help manufacturing enterprises to improve the green supply chain management level.
