The manufacturing industry has been rapidly developing since the industrial age.It not only provides a large variety of products, but also leads to the shortage of resources and environmental pollution.Green supply chain management is a concrete manifestation of the sustainable development strategy that synthetically considers serious environmental and resource problems.Establishing and practicing a green supply chain has become a strategic task of manufacturing industry development. With human beings becoming more concerned about environmental protection and pressures from government regulations and international green barriers, the long-term choice of the manufacturing industry is to take positive measures of being environmentally responsible.Positive measures imply giving attention to the construction of green supply chain, and providing the market with resource-conserving and environment friendly green products to maintain long-term market competitiveness.Under the above background, this dissertation focus on operational decision issues in the construction of a green supply chain. The main work and innovations of the dissertation are summarized as follows:(1)To scientifically evaluate and select suppliers under the green supply chain environment,we develop a systematic data envelopment analysis(DEA)approach that is objective and quantitative to evaluate and select green suppliers using the CCR model of the DEA method and the super-efficiency DEA model which is based on the CCR model. We then construct a complete index system for green supplier evaluation considering the environmental impact. Finally, this complete index system of green supplier evaluation and this systematic DEA approach are applied to an industrial case. Results confirm that the evaluation index system and methods are feasible, easily operated, and practically suitable for corporate use.(2)We explore the pricing and product green-degree decision issues for a green supply chain, which consists of one manufacturer and one retailer. The manufacturer produces green products and sells them to the end market through the retailer. The greening efforts by the manufacturer result in demand expansion at the retail end.The manufacturer has the preference of status seeking with fairness concerns. We explore the effects of fairness concerns and the greening effectiveness coefficient on measures such as product greening levels, retail prices, profits, and supply chain efficiency. The research finds that, the profits and product green degree are higher in the case of integrated channel compared to the decentralized channel. As the value of greening effectiveness coefficient increases, the performance gap between integrated and decentralized channel widens. However, the retail prices may be higher or lower in the integrated channel,it is all depending on the value of greening effectiveness coefficient. The manufacturer's behavior of fairness concerns aggravates the “double marginalization” issue in the distribution channels if the greening effectiveness coefficient is below a certain threshold. The manufacturer's behavior of fairness concerns not only is harmful to the retailer's profit and total channel profit, but also harmful to herself profit.Interestingly, although the manufacturer's profits are coming down, the relative share of manufacturer's profit in the total channel are rising. The manufacturer's behavior of fairness concerns would not change the performance of a retailer dominated green supply chain,it can only affect the internal profit allocation in the retailer dominated green supply chain, the implementation of a greening investment cost sharing contract can improve the green supply chain's efficiency.(3)Considering the competition of informal recycling enterprises in the old product recycling market, this study discuss the selection and effects of the autonomous trade-in mechanism which is carried out by manufacturers and retailers.Through comparisons of the recycling market shares and recycling prices of manufacturers and retailers with informal recycling enterprises, and changes in the profits of manufacturers, retailers, and informal recycling enterprises before and after the implementation of the autonomous trade-in mechanism, the impacts of the autonomous trade-in mechanism on the manufacturers and retailers, and the informal recycling enterprises are discussed. The research shows that, without autonomous trade-in mechanism, manufacturers and retailers are always in an inferior position in competition with informal recycling enterprises in the old product recycling market.Under the autonomous trade-in mechanism, the recycling price and share of recycling market of manufacturers and retailers not only positively correlated with the benefits of manufacturers from the unit old product processing, but also positively correlated with the total marginal profit from forward sales of new products and reverse recovery of old products. The implementation of autonomous trade-in mechanism can enhance the competitive advantage of manufacturers and retailers in competing with informal recycling enterprises, causing manufacturers and retailers to obtain more shares and profits in the old product recycling market, and promoting the healthy and sustainable development of manufacturers and retailers in the sale of new products and the recovery of old products. At last, this dissertation puts forward some measures and suggestions to promote the development of autonomous trade-in mechanism according to the above research results.
