The development of the human's material civilization greatly extends the usage of resources. This situation already destroyed the environment, resource and the green balance. From 90's in 20 centuries, many countries adjust their development strategy successively. The global industrial structure trends to be green strategy. The green supply chain management emerges with the tide of the times. In these countries, governments and organization also make various environmental protection policy laws to protect the environment. EU environmental protection directive, the most representative one, influences to the Chinese electronics industry greatly and constitutes the green trade barrier. The design for environment, which is based on the whole product life cycle, maximizes the environment benefits within the product life cycle and satisfies the requests of the environmental protection directive in all countries. It is very helpful in realizing the green strategy and keeping sustainable development of the business enterprises. It is also very important in raising the environment benefits of the supply chain. The design for environment is also a powerful assurance of the green supply chain management realization and the improvement of the enterprises' viability and competition ability. This thesis first reviewed the literature, then used them for reference and summarized, finally, proved them with substantial evidence.The consideration of environment factor in supply chain was first proposed in 70's in 20 centuries. Through the development for several years, it achieved great progress theoretically and practically. However, the theoretical research is still dispersive and the applications in Chinese electronics industry are still unsubstantial. Face to the rigorous green trade barrier, the electronics industry needs to adopt some efficient steps urgently to solve the green degree problem of the whole supply chain by the root, and the problems brought by the environmental protection directive.The design for environment is the key to solve and implement the green supply chain management. It considers each environment factor, from the headstream of product life cycle, within the product life cycle into the product designation, thus solves the product life cycle's environmental protection problem and increases the green degree of the whole supply chain efficiently. However, it's presently absent systemic research, clear operation process in particle and evaluation methods, and restricts the development of electronic industry green supply chain management. How to efficiently establish a product's environmental design flow and scheme plays an important role in the green supply chain management implementation. Basing on green supply chain management of electronic industry, environment benefit of whole product life cycle, and EU environmental protection directive, the thesis propose the environmental design flow and method that combines the situation of electronic industry and the requirement of EU environmental protection directive. It can be operated and used in particle. The methods solve the problem of green trade barriers, such as EU environmental protection directive. Combining with the evaluation of environmental effect, it can improve the environment benefits within the product life cycle greatly, thus improve the environment benefits of entire supply chain. The design for environment can also bring some economic benefits. This thesis proposed several design proposals: the design to decrease the material usage; the design to disassemble the product; the design for recycling; the design to reproduce; the design to reduce the usage of harmful material; the design to improve the efficiency of energy; the design to achieve the environmental protection standard and standard request, and so on. There is not only the proposal can be used, but also combines design key and case of specify product design concept. It's helpful for the designer to get and master it. The design proposal can help enterprise to realize design for environment, improve green supply chain management, enhance green degree of supply chain, and handle the question of EU environment protection directive.This thesis has done research on the case of FuHua electronic green supply chain management design for environment. Through the investigation, it shows that the design for environment can bring environment benefits and economic benefits within the product life cycle. It verifies that the design for environment plays a key role on the green supply chain management. In this case, there are substantial great evidence to show the methods of design for environment, evaluation methods and the solution of theEU environmental protection directive problem.In the design for environment research of electronic industry green supply chain managenment, according to the influence of each step within product life cycle to the environment, the design uses the material usage, energy consumption and wastes as the evaluation rules. Combining the request of current EU environmental protection directive, this thesis proposes the proposals of design for environment, and be validated by the case. The research can be a consult for electronic industry green supply chain management.
