With the industrial boosting and shifting of Jing-Jin district, especially the Hebei Province industrytransferring toward coastal areas. The great changes in the quantity and distribution of industrial land ofTangshan city have taken place. Research on the industrial land distribution, spatial pattern andexpanding mode will help to establish rational land use planning and to control the industrial land scale.Based on the current industrial distribution of Tang Shan, this passage put forward an assumption of theindustry land arrangement, it can play a positive role in building rational industrial base, making theinterrelated policies of industrial space structure and ensuring the healthy industrial development. Thepurpose of the dissertation is to reveal the origin of increase, spatial extension, transformation ofindustrial land barycenters and fractal dimensions of industrial land in Tangshan city. The integration ofRemote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has been widely applied andrecognized as a powerful and effective tool in detecting land use change in urban areas. Erdas Imagine8.7 software is used to deal with the satellite images. Based on the Remote Sensing information ofmulti-season, multi-band and multi-platform, the maps were produced for different years in Tangshan.First, Landsat TM/ETM satellite images were geometrically corrected, which was based on 1:200000terrain map in 1974 and full Tangshan TM/ETM images gained. And then the method ofperson-machine alternating operation and multi-extracting method combining supervised classificationwith non-supervised classification were applied to Landsat TM/ETM satellite images, which wererespectively acquired in 1993 and 2003, and the map of the industrial space distribution were gained.Moreover, under the support of the GIS software the dynamic maps of industrial land were made.Themaps are used to digitize the Origin of increase, spatial extension, transformation of industrial landbarycenters and fractal dimensions of industrial land, with the help of GIS. The results are as follows: (1)The scale of industrial land increases continuously from 6954.60 hm~2 to 8177.55 hm~2 by cultivated landtransformation. (2) The variety took place in space construction of industrial land which barycentermoved to the 0.68km westward and the 0.24km toward the north respectively. (3) The spatial extensionmodes includes exclave jumping and concentric circle nibble, which the former is the main mode in thisarea, and it amount to 73.62% of total study area. (4) With the number of industrial land spot increasingfrom 108 to 131, both fractal dimensions and broken degree of industrial land increase from 1.049 to1.058 in ten years, average area decreased from 62.82 h~m2 to 55.61 hm~2 at same time, so the industrialland disperse. (5) It can be educed that the industrial space distribution relatively concentrative throughthe calculation of coefficient of geographic association. The characteristics of Tangshan city are thecombination of disperse and concentration, obviously suburban and the elementary formation ofdot-axis mode. (6) Finally, based on the stage of industry development and the industrialization levelsin Tangshan city, this passage put forward an industrial distribution space model, which conceives acomprehensive service center, two industrial development belts and some industrial clusters.
