Global climate change increasingly affects the production of human life in many fields, LUCC research turn into global change research focus, the changes in the global environment and sustainable development was important. Under the support of remote sensing and geographic information system technology, the LUCC space-time information access, processing, analysis of the use of the discussions was the most advanced and the most important tool. I choose Shen-Fu area as the case. As August 2, 1986 and August 7, 2003 TM image data, topographical maps, land use map and government statistics-based data, I research the regional land-use changes in the law and explore its driving mechanism. The main findings are as follows:(1) Through the image analysis and field interpretation, I educed that in the west of Kuye River was desert area, in the east of Kuye River was Loess Hills. The land use structure main features in this area were: large areas of irrigated fields to flake and zonal distribution in desert areas, a few in the zonal distribution in a number of major rivers and valleys nearby. Dry land was concentrated in the dry loess area, bulk in area of the hill on the top terrace, a small amount of the distribution in the foothills of the valley. Shrubbery in the region was the most important types of coverage, the majority located in the desert area. Forestlands were strongly, relatively concentrated in Shen-mu and Lan-ganbao town. Grassland was distribution in the Loess Hills of hill and valley. Residents mainly concentrated in a number of coal-producing region and county, although the mine sites widely distributed, but the unit was small. Rivers was generally through the area in north-south. Bare soil and bare rock mainly concentrated in the rivers and north of Fu-gu County. Dene was distribution in the west of Shen-mu County, accounting for almost half of the area. Soil using structure showed that the extent of soil using by human being was restricted by the landform and physiognomy.(2) Use RS select the most suitable method for the area features information extraction. Extract the 1986 to 2003 change information. Detailed analyze the time of transfer process characteristics and spatial distribution pattern by GIS spatial analysis and statistical techniques transfer matrix method, the results showed:Shen-Fu area LUCC change rapidly in the past 17, reduction of arable land with a total of 1110.17km2, woodland area for the region's total area of 51.50%, with the annual growth rate reached 3.09%, grassland area reduced from 10.54% to 7.57%, residential area increased by more than seven times, The average annual increase up to 50%, disused significantly reduce, the sand was the main area, bare rock and soil were few change, waters almost unchanged. The types of land use conversion were dene—shrubbery—dry land—grassplot.(3) Combining with the natural environment and social economy, change of soil using/covering in Shen-Fu area was analyzed, which showed that the driving mechanism in the area. The result showed that change of soil using/covering was determined by the natural environment and social economy. Natural factor was the basic factor and social economy, especially coal mine resources was the determined factor. Fund invest by the nation and local government were the main driving factors and the developing coal industry bring along other industries was the straight driving factor.
