Motivation Factors Of Knowledge Workers In Foreign Invested Enterprises

The purpose of this thesis is to study motivation factors of local knowledge workersworking in foreign-invested enterprises nowadays, exploring differences among staff withvarious statistical features and comparing motivation factors between state-owned andforeign-invested enterprises. Statistical methods like exploring factor analysis and one-wayanalysis of variances are adopted for processing survey data.The results of this study show:1. Motivation factors of knowledge workers working in foreign-invested enterprisesincluding eight factors: development opportunities, autonomy and achievements, leadershipstyle, company status & prosperity, working conditions, management system, compensation& benefits as well as co-worker relationship.2. There are no significant variances on leadership style, company status & prosperityamong staff with different statistical features. However, there are significant variances onother 6 factors, mainly on development opportunities and working conditions.3. Attention to development opportunities is correlate to age and years of experiencesof knowledge workers. Those under age 30 or with less than 5 years of working experiencesfocus more on development opportunities.4. General knowledge workers put more emphasises on development opportunities andworking conditions than those on management positions.5. Comparing motivation factors of knowledge workers working in foreign-investedenterprises and state-owned enterprises, there are both similarities and differences. They bothfocus on autonomy, achievements and challenges. The differences are mainly on leadershipstyle and co-workers relationship. Although both of them pay attention to compensationand benefits as well as development opportunities, their level of emphasis varies.
