In modern management, whether to understand"management situation"for ensuring the effectiveness of management activities, or to find the direction for realizing the scientific, precise and effective corporate culture management, the most pressing issue is how to understand the situation of corporate culture accurately and comprehensively. Therefore, how to assess this complicated system scientifically not only is corporate culture research topics at the forefront or the international management academic efforts direction but also has important significance for enterprises.To fully understand corporate culture and make assessment significant, we must not only from the"culture"-- corporate values, assess the content, but also from the"change"-- the corporate culture construction, assess the process. If management is crops, its mission is to get more food; if culture is the soil, its mission is to make the soil more fertile. Before constructing their corporate culture consciously, many enterprises might neglect themselves'situations. How these enterprises enrich their corporate culture, if they do not see the real needs and gaps, and not construct it according to the specific needs? Furthermore, according to the Process School's core concept, as long as the process and solution are correct, the result will be able to reach the set goals. And there are"cultural difficulty landing"phenomena in the practice of corporate culture; one of reasons is the absence of control mechanisms in the corporate culture-constructing process. Therefore, if wanting to improve the corporate culture management through assessment, we must not only guarantee to"do the right things"but also ensure to"do things right".Based on the situations of corporate culture exertion and practice in our country, and the successful factors which domestic and foreign enterprises implemented corporate culture, the paper takes the Software Capability Maturity Model developed by Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute into the corporate culture assessment, and then provides an improved assessment model --"Corporate Culture Capability Maturity Model", which consists of two tiered levels: 1. Content Maturity of Corporate Culture: from the perspective of the enterprises'macro- and micro- environments, it uses five progressive levels, namely, the Original Level, Reasonable Level, Passive Support Level, Initiative Support Level and Adaptive Level, to reveal the matched degrees between the corporate values and the corporate environment. 2. Process Maturity of Corporate Culture: from the perspective of the efforts of the corporate culture construction, it uses five progressive levels, namely, the Confusion Level, Orderly Level, Management Level, Fusion Level and Optimization Level, to show the matched degrees between personal and organization's values in the course of the corporate culture construction.
