Outdoor advertisement is an important phenomenon in urbanization process. Along with the development of every undertaking of our society, modern outdoor advertisement has already merged into an organic whole with city's life. It delivers information toward people, and influences people's life style. The successful outdoor advertisement has been the most important part to enrich the lives of citizen, and fulfill the function of the city. It displays the feature of material and spiritual life of city from the side. It is also the important constituent of a city's humanistic scenery, and becomes the important vector of the city's image and culture, unfolding spiritual style and activity of city. And it is becoming the part of city's image construction. The development of outdoor advertisement gets widely concerns in the national metropolis's image fixed position. Outdoor advertisement in modern city posses plentiful aesthetic connotation, and is inevitable trend of design and construction. It is another directly embody of the city's flexible actual strength.Currently, in our country, study on design of outdoor advertising is behind the starting line, and far away from a complete system. Because of the problems of outdoor advertisement at design, programming, management etc, it has been caused a lot of disharmony phenomena between the outdoor advertisement and the city landscape. This kind of problems brings serious negative influence on our city and people's life. Such as it not only influence the positive development of outdoor advertisement itself, but also influence the construction and dissemination of city image, and influence the promotion of city's flexible actual strength. Therefore, it has very important significance that the study on the effect of outdoor advertisement on city image.There are two main contents in this text, one is investigation the present situation of outdoor advertisement in Jinan, from city's image construction angle to analysis and research the design, programming and management of outdoor advertisement, and study the effect of outdoor advertisement on city image, and further put forward some suggestions. Secondly, there are some home and external cities, whom the design and programming about outdoor advertisement are scientific and excellent, and take them as examples, summarize the function value, aesthetic value, culture value and the setting up regularity in outdoor advertisement acting on whole city image creating, and put forward the setting up principle that outdoor advertisement are coordinated with city's space environment and humanistic environment, and unified with urban programming. Emphasizing it has integrated characteristics between outdoor advertisement and city's image construction. Make outdoor advertisement really become an artistic form and effective methods to decorative city, so as to make up the regret in urban construction, and further efficiently play the due role in creating city image.
