A Study Of The Influence On Shandong Tourism By Hosting The 11^th National Games

The quadrennial National Games, China's largest and highest level games, are the most influential sports event in China. The 11th National Games held in 2009 in Shandong Province will also have a far impact on many aspects. The Games requires all sectors of society to participate and cooperate, it will lead to the development of the relevant industries, tourism is one of the major and long-term beneficiaries.After analyzing the impact to tourism industry of the previous provinces which held the Games, the author thinks that the 2009 National Games in Shandong Province will bring the impact on tourism, gives suggestions and draws the following conclusions:1. It is a gradual process to the host province' tourism for National Games. The scales of tourism activities and the number of tourists are Rowing with the National Games expansion.2. The National Games have effectively promoted the sustained growth in tourists, quickly enhanced the tourism brand image, increased the income of the tourism industry and benefited the tourism industry on the software and hardware of the host cities.3. The influence of The 11th National Games to Shandong tourism includes positive and negative impacts: the Games will upgrade the tourist image for Shandong tourism industry, bring both domestic and international tourists a substantial increase in the promotion of tourism environment of Shandong Province, increase the tourist attractions and new information and communication channels and the ability to tourism industry, but may also have some negative impact.4. For Shandong tourism industry, the 11th National Games provides only a rare historical opportunity, it does not mean that the tourism industry will succeed. Tourism is a relatively fragile industry, subject to many factors. In order to guarantee the success of Shandong Tourism, some positive strategies are necessary.Recommendations:1) Build and enhance the image of the tourism industry in Shandong Province, enhanceit's brand, fully demonstrate the "cultural sites, the holiday paradise" brand image.2)Make full use of all medias, increase the propaganda and increase the visibility of thetourism industry of Shandong.3) Adhere to the "people-oriented" and the harmony between man and nature, payattention to the sustainable development of tourism resources, optimizing the tourismproducts, do well in tourism promotion, and maintaining after-Game promotion.4)Avoid the following situation: too much expectations to the influence on shandongtourism by holding the 11^th National Games; Too high target, busy construction before the 11^th National Games but empty after them; make every effort to deal with the problems between short-term and long-term benefits, tourism and related industries, the relationship between between Shandong Province and and other provinces, together with the neighboring countries.
