In the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal was opened to navigation,water transport and civil commercial transport's flourish,bring economic development to the regions along the canal in shandong province.A large urban agglomeration formated and developed because of the canal.there are several famous commercial centers as Linqing,Jining,Liaocheng,Dezhou,Zhangqiu etc. The prosperity of commodity circulation,the growing number of residents and the increasing of handicraft and business in the towns created a lot of demand for services,provide vast development space to the services.Mainly sevices for the production and circulation's transportation industry,commercial centers and warehousing logistics industry,the financial sector and other industries came into being.At the same time,consumption demand of huge floating population groups on the canal pier,drive the development of accommodation catering services,toiletries industry and the entertainment industry for the personal and social life.In addition,the canal's through advance North-South culturars communicate and the change of customs,change people's concept of consumption,and also greatly stimulate the rise of the service industries.These service industries provided a lot of job opportunities to the majority of the people,became an important part of residents'career,and also reflect the canal town business' characteristics.The article put traditional services as an industry,around the typical canal town: Linqing,deeply and detailed inspect the content of the services.After the dredged up of the huitong river in the Ming Dynasty,Linqing became a famous canal city because of the shipping,commodity circulation prosperous,many population flows,customs extravagance and services had been fully developed.The article has been selected the most significant services like porters,bodyguards,intermediary business,hostels, pawn-broking,private banks,hotels,bars and restaurants,teahouse,bathhouse and local operas as the investigation focuses. On the basis of services content inspection of the canal towns,further focus on the relationship between service and other industries or canal towns.The service industry is a profession appeared after Trade.and the development of socio-economic development is the prerequisite for the rise of the service industry,affected and constrainted it.And the development of service industries would,in turn,promote agriculture,handicraft industry and commercial development.Services and other industries promote each other,forming benign interaction.In addition,the service sector and the canal towns changes are closely related.Services exist and develop with the canal towns' emergance and prosperity,decrease with the decline of the canal towns.From Linqing,the mall city which has been flashing a dazzling ray of light in the history,we can see that the historical fate of the service closely linked to canal towns historical fate,both emgenerce and vanish at the same time,and shared the same fate of their ups and downs.
