Research On The Economic And Trade Cooperation Between Jilin Province And Russia

It has been 17 years since the disintegration of Soviet Union. Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation has experienced two stages, that is, from the thriving stage to the downfall and from the downfall to the thriving again. Recently, with the development of Sino-Russian strategic cooperation relationship, the economic and trade relationship between the two countries has taken on a new look. At present, Russia is China's seventh largest trading partner and China is Russia's third largest trading partner. The mutual investment between Russia and China has been brisk apart from the promotion of trade scale. At the same time, the investment scale has been enlarged constantly. In addition, the economic and trade cooperation in Sino-Russian frontiers increasingly becomes brisk. Sino-Russian trade in 2006 amounted to 7 billion U.S dollars, an increase of 25%, and it covered over 20% of the overall trade amount. In the contiguous zones, the two countries develop many kinds of cooperation, such as joint production, modern circulation of goods, the deep processing of timbers, natural resources exploiting, financial service and so on, which play important roles in guiding local economic development and enlarging the opening to the outside world. According to the strategy of the development of the northeast industrial base, Jilin province not only needs to stimulate domestic demand but also should pay more attention to the regional trade cooperation, so that it can increase the international demand. Russia adjoins Jilin province, therefore, it is imperative that the two parties develop economic and trade cooperation and promote the regional economic prosperity.This article begins with some theories about regional economy. The second part introduces the present situation of Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation, analyzes the characteristics and trends between China and Russia. Based on this background, we can make a detailed study of the economic and trade cooperation between Jilin province and Russia. Meanwhile, we can state the effect of international financial crisis on Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation, and the measures that we should take. The effect of financial crisis won't change the base and the long- term developing trend of Sino-Russian trade. The cooperative mechanisms between the two countries are not influenced by financial crisis, and Sino-Russia strategic cooperation relationship will be the great power to consolidate ant strengthen their economic and trade cooperation. The third part is mainly about the economic situation and outdoor economic and trade cooperation in Jilin province. The fourth section analyzes the issues of economic and trade cooperation between Russia and Jilin province. It consists of three aspects: the present trade situation, the mutual investment and technological cooperation, and expanding their historic developing opportunities. The fifth section deals with some problems in trade, agriculture, forestry, and scientific and technical cooperation between Russia and Jilin province. In the sixth part, facing with the international financial crisis, both Russia and Jilin province put forward valuable suggestions.
