Research On Interrelated Development Between The Port Cluster Of Pearl River Delta And Its Hinterlands' Economy

Relationship between port and hinterland is extension of relationship between port and city. Port depends on the economic development in hinterland to increase competition ability; Meanwhile, the hinterland is fully utilizing the advantage of port to promote its economy growth too.This dissertation discusses relationship between port's development and economic development of hinterland in the case of port cluster of Pearl River Delta and its hinterlands. On the basis of summing-up of interrelated development between the port cluster of Pearl River Delta and its hinterlands, this dissertation uses statistical data and input-output tables to discuss the interaction mechanism between port cluster and its hinterlands, from macro and meso perspective, through correlation analysis and input-output analysis methods, and brings forward three spread paths of water transport industry's affection on the hinterlands' economy. Finally, this dissertation sums up the foundation and advantages of the Pearl River Delta port cluster and its hinterlands, and the opportunities and challenges that they face together, then brings forward policy proposals that can further promote development of the port cluster and its hinterlands' economy in order to provide advices for government decision-making.
