Pearl River Delta Port Group has many ports, including many China’s major large ports. There are Hong Kong port, Guangzhou port, Shenzhen port and Zhuhai port. Most of the economic hinterland to the four ports are coincident. The port only consider the individual interest in its development, showing the state of disorderly competition. The expansion of the Ports scale is blind, compete to lower the price of services, resulting in wasted investment and low efficiency operation, competing strategies between ports to be studied.President Xi Jinping proposed to build a "Silk Road economic belt" and "21st Century Marine Silk Road",which is two important national strategy for our country,during the visit to the Central Asian and Southeast Asian countries. Pearl River Delta port cluster should seize the strategy, vigorously develop the regional economy and improving the overall strength of the entire port group.Since the 21st century, large ships as well as mega development trend is very clear. But the reality is that not all ports have the ability to accept large ships berthing of large, very large vessels will be limited draft harbor, port handling capacity and other hardware infrastructure at berth. This gives hope that large, very large ship berthing port face greater challenges, ports and other infrastructure according to their own conditions, accurately positioned itself in the port cluster.This paper studies the Pearl River Delta port cluster in the departure of the four ports before competition from the perspective of port clusters.
