Bio-energy is the energy which is in the form of electricity, heat, steam, and fuels can be derived from biomass through conversion methods such as direct combustion boiler and steam turbines, anaerobic digestion, co-firing, gasification, and pyrolysis. Nowadays, biological hydrogen, bio-diesel and bio-ethanol are three main technologies for bio-energy conversion.This thesis studies the progress in Chinese bio-energy industry. First, this paper analyzes the reasons for the development of bio-energy industry in the world from the perspective of economics theory, and finds that the rise in energy demands and prices is the main reason for the development of bio-energy. At the same time, the industry life cycle theory is used to analyze the development of bio-energy industry, and it is found that bio-energy industry is in the industrial introduction period, and the development of new technologies and applications and the industry's own innovation should be strengthen. Furthermore, Chinese bio-energy industry is analyzed in detailed. There is no denying that bio-energy industry has developed rapidly. But it endangers Chinese food security and causes a new environmental crisis and other issues. At the same time, the relationship of Chinese GDP and energy demand is analyzed in econometrics and then it is found that Chinese bio-energy industry have significant prospects. Lastly, based on the analysis of Chinese bio-energy industry progress, the constructive comments and suggestions are given, such as focus on the development of bio-energy made by non-food materials, establish Chinese bio-energy industrial progress policy, and increase the bio-energy industry support, and vigorously strengthen tuber production of fuel ethanol, butanol, and other products of technology research and develop Chinese characteristics of bio-energy industries, and establish biomass processing conversion technology platform to accelerate the use of cellulose and other areas of technological innovation strategy.
