Compared with the other ordinary cities, especially the newly-born cities, Shanghai combines many excellent cultures, Chinese and foreign, ancient and modern. Thus Shanghai forms the unique metropolitan cultural tourism resources and enjoys a nature-endowed advantage in developing the metropolitan tourism industry.The charming metropolitan cultural tourism resources are permanent theme of the metropolitan tourism industry's survival and development. The metropolitan cultural tourism resources are the unshakeable core of the metropolitan tourism industry. The organic integration of the metropolitan cultural tourism resources and the metropolitan tourism industry is particularly necessary.Based on the Shanghai's objective of developing the metropolitan tourism industry and its rich metropolitan cultural tourism resources, this study aims to combine the development of the metropolitan tourism industry with the metropolitan cultural tourism resources organically. This study also tries to explore the more operational methods and ways to develop metropolitan cultural tourism and enhance the image of Shanghai's metropolitan cultural tourism through the summarization and analysis of the connotation and characteristics of Shanghai's metropolitan cultural tourism.
