The Research On The Development Model Of MICE Tourism

In recent years, research shows that the traditional sightseeing tourism is developing to special tourism . And there were many marginal industries appeared, such as business trips, study tours and MICE tourism. All of them are combinations of activities within the industry and tourism to form new tourism economic growth points.MICE tourism plays an important role in the destination economic development, and gradually gains attention of the destination government . MICE tourism in comparison with the ordinary tourism has the characteristics of guests staying a longer time, higher consumption , and higher profit to the destination. So it is called the "jewel in tourism crown." Many cities in our country will develop MICE tourism as the growth point of a city, and the academic research also focuses more on the MICE industry .This article is for the study of Dalian. It first describes the background and significance of the research topic, summarizes the outline and the research path, and emphasizes the research focus is on Dalian MICE tourism development model and countermeasures. Based on domestic and foreign research achievements this article compares the definition of the concepts of MICE tourism given by different scholars, and then put forward the concept of MICE tourism used in this article. The author then conducts the literature review and analysis , compares the different development modes in different countries with the intention to find a theoretical support for the development of MICE tourism in Dalian. The article then analyzes the current situation of MICE industry, MICE tourism development in Dalian, and also identifies the problems existed. By Dalian SWOT analysis, using foreign MICE successful experience in development mode, this article developed and constructed the Dalian MICE tourism development mode. The last part of the article discusses the countermeasures of Dalian MICE tourism development which fall into three areas, the local government, trade associations, convention and exhibition enterprises.
