The imbalance between the increase of poultry's worldwide consumption demand and its output brings an opportunity for the booming of poultry's international trade. In particular, the imbalance can be easily found in Japan which has been targeted as the greatest potential market. As for China, Japan is the biggest importer of poultry which has great influence on China's export trade in this field. Nevertheless, in addition to the impact from the status quo of international trade, higher standard of Japanese food access system and the comparatively imperfect quality of China's poultry product harden the maintaining of the share in Japanese market as well. Though China has adjusted the high-added value of cooked meat product to enlarge the gross export of poultry to Japan and has been trying to better the downward trend, it failed to function well. Consequently, the empirical analysis on the problem of competitive force of China's poultry export to Japan can assist to enlarge this export and get the competitiveness improved. This thesis started with the analysis on the distribution of poultry product in Japan's market, its major export countries and development tendency, which is also combined with the analysis on China and other importers' poultry product, structure of export product and the change in export trade.The theories of Market share, regional revealed comparative advantage and CMS model all are adopted to make qualitative research on the causes which influence and change China's competitiveness of poultry export trade to Japan, on the basis of quantitative research on this change. With the previous comprehensive analysis, this thesis then focuses on the countermeasures to stimulate the export trade of China's poultry product to Japan, which also involves the optimization of poultry product export structure, the improvement of product quality and industrial relation law.First, part on mainly covers the analysis on the current situation of poultry market in China, Japan and other relevant countries. Japan has become one of the major import countries on poultry product of the world due to the gap between the needs and the supply of domestic poultry. China used to be one of the most important exporters of Japan because of the geographical advantage, the same diet of people and its sufficient supply of poultry product. However, recent years has witnessed the downward trend of China's export to Japan on poultry product and has also experienced the transformation of product mix from raw meat to cooked meat product. Meanwhile, the competition among Japan's importer gets more intense.Second part of this paper, with the application of market share theory, RRCA and CMS model, mainly focus on the quantitative and qualitative research on the production and export of China and its competitors. It is revealed that Thailand and Brazil are China's major competitors. Though China's comprehensive competition force has got great improvement, represented by the superiority of cooked meat product, China still has a long way to go to meet the demands of Japan's market as a result of the slump in raw meat export.Third part works on the causes which influence China's export and product mix via analyzing the elements of international trade, Japan and China.In last part, the author put forward the solution and countermeasures to facilitate Sino-Japan poultry trade in relation to the product mix, product quality, export cost and profession laws.
