Tourism development is based on tourism resources whose exploration and development are ultimately evidenced by tourism products. Tourist infrastructure construction will finally be integrated into tourist products. Tourist product is the complex of both physical goods and service product in the domestic and international markets. Tourist product development is the core of the tourism development; its development level is directly related to the value of tourism, and to the rise and fall of tourism. In recent years, with the improvement of living standards and increased leisure time, more and more urban residents passionately pursue suburb travel. With the growing demand for leisure travel, it has become a new life style for urban residents to have a leisure time, vacation, and ecotourism in suburb area. The Jinlong Great Wall is located in Luodai town of Longquan District, in the east of Chengdu city, and it is within the circle of "two layers" of Chengdu tourist area with superior advantages.This paper chooses the Jinlong Great Wall as the object for urban development research so as to study the development patterns for tourism products of urban suburbs.With the introduction of current status of the Jinlong Great Wall, the paper puts forward the realistic development patterns for tourism product, which can be the reference for the development of urban suburb tourism.Beginning with discussing domestic and international tourism development models, the paper analyzes regional geological setting of Jinlong Great Wall and its tourism resources features, and then summarizes the characteristics of tourism resources so as to make qualitative and quantitative evaluation. Combined with the scenic tourism product development situation, the thesis analyzes the problems and challenges in tourist development, tourism product development strategy, tourism development layout positioning, tourism product design, and marketing strategies. This study focuses on the development patterns of tourist product, and on the theoretical framework of tourism development strategies, it finally makes a research on the urban periphery model of Tourism Product Development System.Based on the above research, the research achieves the following main results and conclusions.(1) It makes an analysis of regional geological setting of the Jnlong Great Wall, including its regional structure, stratigraphy and lithology, and geomorphologic characteristics.(2) It has been the first time to divide the Jinlong Great Wall scenic tourism resources into five main categories and 16 sub-categories, and it has made the scenic qualitative and quantitative evaluation, thus it has summed up the features of the Jinlong Great Wall tourist resources.(3) It originally proposes tourism spatial distribution of"one center and one zero, two gateways, and three districts."(4) Based on the current features of the Jinlong Great Wall scenic area, it is advocated to be tourism product of a scenic leisure, fitness, religious experience, festivals and so on.(5) It creatively proposes the tourism product development mode in suburban tourist areas on the research on the development patterns for the Jinlong Great Wall.
