If enterprises want to survive and develop in the fierce market competition, they must have a clearly understanding to their own core competence. Glass industry is the traditional industry of our country, which has become an important supporting point of our country's economic development, such as aspects of providing job opportunities and creating GDP. However, the involvement of foreign outstanding glass enterprises and the impact of domestic new glass enterprises, has make the glass market that originally competing fiercely more complex now. Evaluating the glass enterprise's core competence could make the glass enterprises have a clearly understanding to their own core competence, thus adjust the strategy, make their own unique core competence, so that obtain the competitive advantage.This article carries systematic analysis on definition and the characteristic of core competence, further points out the function of enterprise's core competence and its relation with general competition. Study the composing elements of modern enterprise's core competence. On the basis of drawing lessons from research existed, carry analysis and research on recognition, cultivation and maintenance of enterprise's core competence. This article through comparing the existing appraisal index system of core competence, combining the construction principle of core competence's appraisal index system, constructs the core competence's appraisal index system of glass enterprises. The system altogether contains four sub-systems, respectively including marketing ability subsystem, organizing and managing ability subsystem, innovating ability subsystem and technological ability subsystem of enterprises. Based on this, this article unifies the hierarchy analytic method and the functional effect index method in the composite analytical method, carries a systematic appraising to the glass enterprise's core competence. And take four Chinese glass enterprises as the object, carries demonstration on glass enterprise's core competence. From the degree that the appraisal result accords with the realistic condition, we could see that the appraisal index system is practical and feasible. This article applies composite analytical method appraise glass enterprise's core competence in our country, obtains the objective appraisal result, and then give the corresponding suggestion.
