Along with the worldwide speedy development of tourism, regional tourism development competition is getting more and more vigorous, how to steadily occupy and continuously exploit one's tour market has been the pivotal for the region. Inbound tourism is an important part of the tourism industry,its development status is an important symbol of a measure of a regional international level and industry maturity. Inbound tourism figures importantly in Tibet tourism, since the reform and opening up, it has made rapid development.However, compared with the national average, Tibet has obvious gaps in many aspects.The tourism is being opened to the roundly after China's entry into the WTO.Inbound tourism in Tibet is going to confront new opportunities and challenges.The dissertation studies systematically and deeply the characteristics of Tibet inbound tourism market and expansion strategy, which has important practical significance for the rapid and sustainable development of tourism in Tibet.This dissertation first proposes an analytical framework of regional tourism market on the basis of the fundamental theories about regional tourism market and summarizing both the domestic and abroad research achievements.Then, by adopting the inductive and descriptive approaches, it follows to analysis comprehensively the inbound tourism market characteristics in Tibet on the base of the data collation and chart analysis.Finally, the inbound tourism market in Tibet is positioned and expanding strategy is proposed. The innovation of this research lies in that it is a tentative attempt to apply analytical framework of regional tourism market,making up for the bland of the systematical research on Tibet's inbound tourism at present. It provides with a reference and an operational procedures for Tibet's tourism industry development plan.The dissertation consists of six chapters.Chapter One is the introduction. It analyzes the motivation and significance of the dissertation,points out the necessity and practical significance of the research of Tibet inbound tourism market,sketches the ideas and methodologies of the present research as well.Chapter Two is literature review,theoretical foundation and analytical framework of the regional tourism market. Owing to the fact that the theory of regional tourism market is the foundation of Tibet inbound tourism market research. This chapter first presents,summarizes and summarizes the research achievements of regional tourism market in and outside China. Then it follows to overviews the regional tourism market concepts and characteristics, on the basis of which,the dissertation tries to form a regional tourism market analysis framework.Chapter Three investigates the historical evolution characteristics analysis of Tibet inbound tourism market. This chapter conducts a deductive analysis of the evolution tendency of Tibet inbound tourism market with reference to the theory of the life cycle of the tourist site,dividing it into the stages of exploratory (1980-1984),involvement(1985-1995),development 1996-present).Compared with the national, Tibet inbound tourism occupies an important position in Tibet; the Rate of growth is much more quick, but it is extensive,quantitative operational stage; the volume is low, the market development is more sensitive to the impact of the external environment.Chapter Four is the temporal and spatial characteristics analysis of Tibet inbound tourism market.The majority of inbound tourists to Tibet are foreigner. The ratio of foreign tourists is descending year by year, while that of tourists from Hong Kong-Macau and Taiwan is rising. Europe as the main body and Asia and the Americas as the flanks in Continent structure.Japan, the United States, Germany, Britain, France are the focus of traditional tourist generating countries of Tibet, they are a stable dominant position. Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Macao markets are a disadvantaged position. Seasonal variations of the inbound tourist to Tibet is rather strong.Most of tourists visit Tibet in August, September.Chapter Five is the personal characteristics and behavior characteristics analysis of Tibet inbound tourist. The main purposes of foreign tourists are sight-seeing trip.Tour resources of cultural relics, historic sites and landscapes are tourist'preference. According to the evaluation of tourists in the service quality and hospitality facilities,Compared with Yunnan, traffic is still the weakest link; shopping and entertainment has a certain development advantages.Chapter Six is Tibet inbound tourism market exploiting strategies. Based on the characteristics analysis of Tibet inbound tourism market and Tibet practice and present condition and policies, this chapter puts forward the market positioning and some policy recommendations and strategies.
