Social security housing plays an important role both in the development of the commercial housing market and the improvement of livelihood issues. In recent, the implementation of China's housing security policy has alleviated the housing difficulty of low-income residents in some content, however, there is a obvious gap between the implementation and objectives of the security policy, in particular, site selection of the social security housing has not been concerned by relevant sectors of society and the government up to date, which leads to resulting a serious municipal spatial mismatch and other severe civil problems. Site selection of the social security housing has a direct impact on the cost of the construction engineering, the convenience of the insured group's life and the future prospects for the harmonious development of the city. Therefore, it is imperative to carry out the study on site selection of municipal social security housing.This paper has explored the main influence factors and the status quo of site selection of municipal social security housing from the micro-level based on the result of multi-disciplinary research, and studied the limitation of site selection of municipal social security housing in China, such as suburbanization, municipal spatial mismatch, and the difficulty of taking into account the economics and social advantage. Based on Beijing and Hangzhou empirical case, it explores the factors that constraints social welfare in site selection of social security housing in china by spatial mismatch theory and the land bid-rent theory. Moreover, it has analyzed how the spatial mismatch derived from site selection of security housing can lead to residents'welfare losses through the establishment of a simple analytical model. It proposes the aims in site selection of municipal social security housing in China are not only to achieve the economic interests of land, but also to improve the overall welfare level of the residents, at the same time, gives five site selection of social security housing models involving in mixed construction, the concentration planning of urban edge region, old urban redevelopment of urban centers, small-scale centralized construction in urban centers and the development and construction of new city to propose rationalization advices for practical applications, in order to avoid or mitigate the negative effects of municipal spatial mismatch and to achieve the target of security housing.
