The mill housing as the important spare part withstands the rolling force in the rolling mill work, therefore requests the mill housing to have stronger rigidity and high processing precision. Because of complex mill housing shape, the huge structure, difficulty to overturn, dead weight of the mill housing and the temperature, the certain distortion can be resulted to the mill housing after clamped, affecting the processing precision, so all the reasons set the very high request to the processing equipment and the processing technique of the mill housing.Along with the improvement of the processing ability of the Heavy Duty Machine Company of Ma Steel, the processing conditions of the Heavy Duty Machine Company's to mill housings matured day by day, but very many difficulties still be encountered in the processing, such as the selection of the main supporting point which mostly depends on the experience and lacks the theory basis. The 2,250 hot rolling roughing mills mill housings of Ma Steel are taken as the research object in this thesis, quantitative analyzed the distortion resulted by the gravity and the temperature, according to analyzing results, the better position of supporting point and the distortion value are obtained to compensate the displacement in the digital processing. Through precisely calculating the distortion produced by the dead weight of the mill housing and the temperature, the precise displacement compensation when processing mill housings can be achieved and also an effective way of improving the quality of mill housings processing has been provided.The finite element method has been carried on to analyze the finite elements of the mill housing in this thesis, the mill housing model has been established through the application of the finite element software ANSYS,8 pitch points hexahedron units are used to establish the three-dimensional stereo finite element model of the mill housing,29,706 units and total 34,925 pitch points are obtained by dividing the model with sweep, to simplify the restriction and exert the load, then distortion curves which conform to the actual situation are obtained. At the same time, corresponding procedures has been written with the APDL language to satisfy the calculation of the distortion of the mill housing under each different operating conditions.
