This paPer brings forward and setS up the Highway Project Supervision andManagement Information System through a full st'Udy of highway constructionmanagement and GIS. The main purpose is to provide the engineer of sUPervisionand management with methods of visual query statistica1 analysis, making reportforms, and project calculations by utilizing MIS and GlS techniques to have qualitycontrol, progress control and investment control over the whoIe process of thehighway construction.The writer details the general design scheme in this paper, and devises thedatabase struct'Ure that coincides with the request of the engineer of supervision andmanagement. And the ADO that is based on COM and built in higher layer ofOLEDB is chosen to have access to the database. This method can be used to accessdifferent kinds of database.The Component Integration Technique is used in the design of the system. Andsatisfactory effects result from the selection and aPplication of MapX prograrnmablecontrols that are based on ActiveX in graphics display and query.The Highway Project Supervision and Management Information System that isdeve[oped according to the whole constrUction process of the YeIIow River HighwayBridge And Its Joint Line PrOject From Jiaozuo To Gongyi is proved valuable forthe enhancement of supervision and management quality and the successfulcompIetion of the highway construction.
