The development of automation of electric distribution network in our country is resulted from the reform of civil network. For a long period of time, due to the neglect of the construction and the week structure of electric distribution network, the generating capacity is redundancy while the distributing capacity is low. The realization of automation of electric distribution network can increase the reliability of the power supply, improve the quality of electric energy, ensure the uninterrupted power supply to users, promote the power supply capacity of urban and rural power network, realize the management automation of electric distribution, provide information support to many management processes, improve service, management level and production efficiency, reduce operation and maintenance costs, realize the economic running of electric distribution network, which set up good technical foundation for market reform of electric system. Therefore, it will be very important to carry out the research of automation of electric distribution network.The automation of electric distribution network is a huge and complicated systematic project with high level of comprehensiveness which includes all the functional dada flow and control related to the distribution system in electricity enterprises. The automation of electric distribution should be a whole and complete one from the view of ensuring power supply quality to the users, improving service as well as reducing operation costs.This article firstly presents the content, significance and developing status of automation of distribution network home and abroad, and points out the existing problems in the process, and then describes in detail the basic condition of distribution network automation and its electric lines in the coal mines of Yankuang Group. It poses a design principle for distribution network automation which includes the open international standard, expanded system, real-time system and maintenance. It also gives applied research carries on the analysis for distribution network automation in Yankuang Group according to its specific condition. The system can fulfill the tasks of monitoring, automatic fault shooting and power recovery of distribution system and optimize operating management by utilization of all kinds of information. It also carry out deep research on design of distribution main station, substation and terminals as well as the planning and design of communication and feeder line automation of electric distribution network.
