| Since the start of French new wave, author film theory has become an important genre in the development of world films, while only till 1980's, it has affected Chinese movie production and development in real sense. Hou Xiaoxian and Jia Zhangke are no doubt the forerunner and prationer of Sinicization of author film. The former comes to the sight of the public because of his creation by using author film theory and thus become the leader of Taiwan new movie movement; the latter is active in the latter of 1990's and thus become leading the Sixth Generation directors. Although the two directors live opposite to the Taiwan Strait, the distance of space disappears in the movie world with their works centering around the caring for little people, marginal man and average man. In this respect, Jia Zhangke claims to be the one who inherit and take reference from Hou Xiaoxian. As self-conscious practioners in Chinese movie production, the above-mentioned directors have richen the production of author film one after another. As one branch of theory, author film theory specially stress the individual genre, therefore, the latter has taken reference and inheritance from the former while they have different exploration direction. So by comparing the two directors'movie production, we can have a glimpse of the exploration and evolution of "author movie" in present China and can thus look out some evidence and rules for the present movies in China.Regarding the present research in the academic field, there are already all kinds of achievements in studying Hou Xiaoxian's movies. Though Jia Z. Ke have been engaged in movie production not for long and have not many productions, because of his rich individual style, it has aroused continuous concern for Jia Z. Ke's movies from academic circles. However, when making a genera] survey of the research for the two directors, I have found personally, from the perspective of author film, articles taking a comparison research for the two directors are few and even lack of. This has made the research of the essay necessary and valuable.Author films to Hou X. Xian and Jia Z. Ke, are just like an open window in special period of time and special environment, which provides with new probe direction and new approach for the exhausted and tired movie era. When Hou and Zhang are creating by using author film theories, they are not just copying, based on the China's basic condition, they do their creation combining their time background and their own opinion and understanding of movie production, led by author film theory, incorporating China's unique cultural background and times element, use their peculiar style of shooting to enrich movie creation and thus real ize the individual expression for the Sinicization of author film theory.Through their passage to author film of Hou and Zhang, we can see their persistent pursuing for penetrating of images to facts superficies, it stress the image words (its intervention for life, expound one's relationship to the world, to the people and people with each other with one's own experience, also some opinion to human history, which expose the inner meaning of essence of life and strongly express deep humanistic feelings and purified life ideal. The article has analyzed the spiritual connotation for author film in China from the perspectives of author' s identity, image connotation and genre seal and provides thinking and experience for reference in the prosperous development of this type of films. |
