Director Jia zhangke’s case anylyzation reveals the present scene in America with regards to Chinese cinema. Through Jia Zhangke’s anylyzation of the screening situation, awards and profits from the box office, one may see the reasons Jia Zhangke’s film was well received in some cases and the challenges it also faced. Jia Zhangke’s films are regarded as one type of Chinese cultural soft power. This soft power proceeds our country’s hard power considerably. His movies have been greatly received within American film festivals, where the true fans of artful, cultured cinema lie. His films have won many awards within different movie festivals, are often played within independent movie theatres, and have been integrated into the higher level American film study curriculum, studied by the future cultural urbanites of American society. Works of art from our country such as this that have been watched and reflected upon have brought a tremendous positive impact on other countries. Works of art such as this can be considered as true soft power. Works of art such as this will surely improve our country’s soft power and thus our influence upon the globe.Jia’s works were well received in the United States, as a result of his use of personalized text notation, exploration of universal themes, and cultural representation. The stylistic writing and aesthetics have always been the label of the European Film, European filmmakers gained the reputations of having an individualistic style. The American film industry is the biggest competitor of the European film industry, and at the same time Americans are indubitably the greatest appreciators of European cinema. In recent years, through the analysis of style and theme of the best foreign language films of Academy Awards and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, which are the representative of the two major film festivals, we can easily find that the American film scholars prefer European-style independent, individualistic writing. Jia’s every works are characterized by the deconstruction of politics, reconstruction of history, expressing of concern for "life" and " the individual", and anxiety over displacement. The three main themes correspond to the themes and ideology of the American film scholar’s popular opinion in recent years. Jia knows what types of themes would attract the attention of Americans. After the Americans were tired of "trafficking backward" and "trafficking scene", Jia featured the hot topics of the new Chinese communities with an objective eye:problems in the urbanization process in China, the fracture between urban and rural areas, the controversies of the Three Gorges Project.Jia’s films can be placed in a genre akin to documentary. The distribution of his work in the United States was a factor of Chinese cinema’s influence in the United States. This paper’s thesis is to analyze Chinese cinema’s dealings with cultural conflict, ideological differences and market difficulties in the United States. Chinese cinema’s expectations of sustainable development in the United States should first consider the cultural and aesthetic strategies to strengthen the "human care", to improve the quality of film production, choose a universal topic and build China’s perspective. In the second place, it is mindful of industry strategy, the establishment of a long-term mechanism to strengthen international cooperation, to create an international art pushing hands.Jia put himself in the era of bare humanity to record randomly but sincerely in the ways of freedom. He is facing the reality calmly, creating in a rational and sincere attitude, shot with paranoid personality approach. The unique quality of its work highlights the taste and pursuit of China’s new generation of filmmakers, as well as a victory of the Chinese art films’ dissemination in the United States.
