Academy education as a special form of ancient Chinese education, is an important phenomenon in the history of education. Academy of classical learning is an very important place to cultivate talented people. It has an important academic significance and value of historical reference to study the development history of Chinese academy, its experience and lessons learned. During the long-term development, academy integrated and reformed a number of components from government official and private schools. Academy formed its own unique characteristics. In education system, teaching methods,teacher-student relationship, the relationship between academy and imperial examinations, for the modern education, academy teaching left a lot of inspiration and reflection.Yuelu Academy has been enjoying the well-deserved reputation "the head of the world's Academy,"since it is created in the early Song .It has been highly regarded by all walks of life. As the first school of Hunan University nowadays ,it still plays an important role in scientific research and teaching. It has always been the model to emulate for other academies in history . Taking Yuelu Academy as the perspective on the enlightenment of the ancient academy to the modern education has a strong representation. At the same time, Yuelu Academy formed a unique inclusive and practical charm in the millennium development so that we can find the spirit of power from the Yuelu Academy of patriotic education in the enthusiasm spirit, great sense of historical responsibility and mission. We can get access to be broad-minded just like the sea takes in hundreds of rivers from the inclusive tradition. We can find the modern education's road towards scientific development from the practical realistic and innovative spirit of the academy . The academy's tradition of taking the lead stimulate modern educaion innovation in the grand ambition.This article takes Yuelu Academy as a major example to explore the enlightment of academy education on modern education. In the course of treatise, this article combines the modern education theories such as Zankov's developmental teaching theory and Stenhouse's process theory, representative of the modern curriculum theory. From the perspective of modern education , this article re-examines ancient academy education. At the same time, the article relates to some situation of Singapore's education which the author know, hoping that it can provide some useful reference for our modern education to better learn from academy education.In the first place, the article inspects the overall development of academy, Especially it clear the Millennium Yuelu Academy's early, middle and late school development. The schooling features of academy is the focus of inspection, with Yuelu Academy as the main example, referring to other well-known representatives of academies in history. From the teaching model of established collective lecturing, the teaching method of asking doubtful questions and inquiring into difficult problems, self-study, emphasizing both on teaching and scientific research, the relationship between the academy and imperial examinations, the relationship between teachers and students six areas, the article explores the enlightenment of academy education on modern education. The developments of Yuelu Academy and Huxiang Culture complement each other to form a unique practical, realistic and inclusive spirit, called "the spirit of Yuelu Academy". The third part explore the "the spirit of Yuelu Academy". It excavates the unique charm of Yuelu Academy based on the common features of academies, and discusses its reference for modern education.The key issue to be solved is to find out the most enlightenment of the academy education on the modern education from the numerous features of academies, and links the status quo of modern education to explore in depth.
