Dalian City Industrial Heritage Tourism Development

With the highly development of industrial tourism and agriculture tourism in our country, more than 306 corporations have been applying for the demonstrate models by 2005, among which103have become the focus by public since approved. But the research on industrial heritage tourism is still blank, no matter in academic fields or in social practices. Comparing with the foreign countries, the history of our industrial times is only 200-300 years. But in traditional Chinese thinking, the relics of industrial times is ugly and polluted, so many valuable industrial heritages were removed because of the nation's ignorance. In actual, the heritage itself contains abundant historical and cultural values. It has much potentials for tourism development.The Ruhr area of Germany is the world's famous "old industrial area" which is known for its coal exploitation and steel. It seems hard to contact this ugly district with tourism and leisure. But in the 1960, the Ruhr occurred "anti-industry" under the effect of world's economy. A lot of factories was bankrupted or transformed; many employees were out of job , and the economy fell down seriously. After 10 years' exploration, the Ruhr reused the abandoned resources to develop the industrial heritage tourism and became the focus of the world again.As the famous seaside traveling city, a lot of visitors have been attracted to come by its enjoyable seaside views and beautiful city constructions. Besides, Dalian has been being an important industrial city of our country since 1930's. Both heavy-duty and handiwork industrials are located here, such as machinery, metallurgy, ship manufacture and salt process, shell glyptic and so on. Then, the essence of this paper is just how to take advantage of the Dalian's industrial resources to pioneer the market of industrial heritage tourism, and make up for the present "new resources" to uncover its industrial culture.
