With the further development of global economics, especially after the China's entrance into WTO, the situation of foreign trade has been facing a great change and the amount of the importation and exportation is having a great growth. Acting as a state organ responsible for supervision and control over importation and exportation, whose main duties are supervision, duties collection, smuggling prevention and Customs statistic compilation, the administration of China Customs will have to be greatly increased. And great challenge will also come on to the table.It leaves both the government and enterprises an extremely urgent problem that how the China Customs will develop into a modern state organ in the current situation. The purpose of this thesis is, after doing research on the current business process of China Customs, to try to find out the crucial reason that impeded the development of Customs business, so as to reengineer the Customs business process by using appropriate reengineering theory and practical methods, aiming that China Customs may play a more important role in the development of foreign trade and the whole national economics.In this thesis, citing ChengDu Customs as an example, there will have evidence analysis as well as criterion analysis, theory compounded with practice, with the aid of theories of management, organization behavior and process reengineering. Statistic dates and survey results from Customs department will also be quoted for demonstration analysis. With the study of the current import and export situation recent years and the current Customs business processes, the transformation approaches of Customs under the direction and principle of business reengineering and solutions to the facing problems will be addressed out, hoping to help having an active contribution to China Customs development.
