Chinese culture influents a wide area including Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, and even the communities where overseas Chinese live. Besides possessing a common nature, Chinese culture has developed into different sub-cultures. Because of various social systems, political institutions, and social environments, Chinese people in different places are diversified in values and behaviors. Having a history of independent development for as long as 160 years, Hong Kong SAR has already formed its distinguished sub-culture.Among the researches on Cross-culture Managements, scholars focused more on the cultures between East and West, whereas, there are few attentions paid to the sub-cultural influences. Along with the release of CEPA policy, there is a brilliant trend that the Hong Kong enterprises are heading north aiming to share the Mainland market. Originated from a common cultural nature, when Hong Kong companies entering the Mainland market, many of them would ignore the sub-cultural differences, which will actually generate sub-cultural conflict, and thus affect the companies'development.Based on Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions Theory, this thesis looks into the history and cultures of the Mainland and Hong Kong, concludes the differences in cultures, and infers the differences in working styles and corporate management. Then, using the Performance Technology theory and Gilbert's model, there is a cross-cultural management model designed for the Hong Kong companies. Last but not the least, the author will use the model into practice, where she selects a Hong Kong company, which entered the mainland market for half a year, and tries to find the sub-cultural conflicts and designs a plan to improve its cross-cultural management.
