"Migrant workers" was first raised by the sociologist Professor Zhang Yulin in 1983.At present,there are three meanings in the theoretical word.Lu Xueyi and some others think that "migrant workers" are the rural population who work in the collective, state-owned units(agriculture accounts or people).The second one is referred by Professor Wenjun and Professor Zhu Shiqun,they think that "Migrant workers" are differentiated from the farmers,that is,account is still agriculture accounts and the identity is industrial workers.The third meaning refers to all from the farmers(of the population engaged in agricultural production) who entered the town as business staff, most of their time are spent on the secondary and tertiary industries in general, regardless of their specific occupational nature.China's migrant worker is the product of objective history and subjective desire. After reform and opening up,with the implementation of the family contract responsibility system,the rural labor force has been a great release;At the same time, the increase of the rural population and agricultural land has been large-scale expropriated which made a large number of rural surplus labor;again,the fast development of secondary and tertiary industries and the huge income effect have attracted vast numbers of migrant farmers;Finally,the longing for city life and change the status inspired farmers to go to cities,looking for opportunities to increase revenue. With these effects,a special group works.And this team is growing constantly,in some provinces and cities of China,especially coastal provinces and cities,the population of migrant workers has exceeded the population of local urban residents. The migrant workers seem to have become an important component of industrial workers.Migrant Workers have made a major contribution to China's modernization,most of them do the most dirty,the most tired,the most hard works in cities,they are the essential force to promote China's economic development.The "dual structure" which formed under a long period of planned economic system and the formation of the inherent economic and social system,they made the migrant workers drifted away between urban and rural areas,a lot of basic security can not be resolved.Migrant workers have not really been accepted by urban society because of the differences in status,but also can not be equal access for urban residents,including social security, their employment,income,work status,living conditions and social security status.The reasons for this phenomenon can be divided into two aspects of the history and reality.From a historical point of view,is the irrational design of the system,especially the household registration system.The emergence of the household registration system, people is divided into the urban residents and rural residents.This division not only deepening the rural and urban areas in economic,political,cultural,and psychological barriers,but also enable farmers lost urban employment opportunities and access to basic social security.From a practical point of view,as a result of the adjustment of economic structure,deepening reform of state-owned enterprises,the increasing pressure of urban employment,with the financial crisis in 2008 led to a large number of staff jobs.A series of social problems,tremendous pressure has been brought to the urban social security system,particularly in social security.The problem of Migrant workers' social security has provided a deep thinking to us, to some extent,the social security of migrant workers lack of direct impact on China's social transformation,social stability,"three rural" issue as well as the realization of the urban process,is also related to the vital interests of migrant workers.Therefore, the study of the social security of migrant workers is an important issue of practical significance and strategic significance.Safeguard the rights and interests of migrant workers,especially migrant workers rights and interests of social security which have a positive role to increase the income of the farmers.In this paper there has formed a system of social security of migrant workers and a brief assessment of the studies,with a view to strength and deep the study of the field and provide some essential reference.
