East Asian Trade And Investment Facilitation

After years of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and efforts, the volume of trade and investment between East Asian countries grew larger and larger, mutual interests deeply intertwined, trade and investment liberalization significantly developed. However, It should be recognized that whether investment liberalization or tariff reduction a, there is less and less room for adjustment. At the same time, the trade and investment facilitation in East Asian is getting more and more momentum, regional organizations, national governments and multinational concentrates more on the subject. June 2009, leaders of the East Asian countries issued a"the Joint Declaration of'10 +3'cooperation to cope with global economic and financial crisis", specifically emphasized on the efforts by national ministers to promote intra-regional trade by measures of trade facilitation. East Asian countries are actively trying to create a less transaction cost, free, convenient, and transparent trade and investment regime.Firstly, this paper analyzed the current situation of trade and investment facilitation between East Asian countries, and the status of trade and investment procedures, the consistency of standards and other aspects, and then analyzed the trade facilitation index of East Asian countries by choosing 4 first-level indicators (customs environment, institutional environment, commerce and port efficiency), 17 second-level indicators (the quality of port facility, policy stability and so forth). Secondly, this paper analyzed the potential of trade and investment between East Asian countries and the benefits of trade and investment facilitation, and then analyzed existing challenges faced by East Asia. Thirdly, this paper analyzed the trade effects in East Asia after the implementation of trade and investment facilitation by the Gravity Model, and then reached the conclusion that trade and investment facilitation plays a positive role in promoting international trade Finally, Elaborated the study of the measures of East Asian trade and investment facilitation.
