Involvement Of Fathers In Parenting And Child Creativity Research

The family environment is a very important factor which imacts on the development of children's creativity. The father role is of great importance, however, has not yet received much focus recently. Foreign researchers have found that fathers are inclined to cultivate children's discovery, give them more freedom, encourage them to take more adventure and are also dedicated to develop their confidence, curiosity, independence and insistence. These abilities are critical basis for developing children's creative potentials.Firstly, this thesis presents a specific illustration on children's creativity and father involvement. We then reorganize the questionare on father involvement by measuring the creativity of 90 children in a public kindergarten, investigating the father (other family members) involvement and then systematically analyzing children's creativity development, father involvement and its impact. The conclusions are as follows:1. There is no distinct age and gender difference in pre-school children's overall development. However, the development on different dimensions differs greatly. In a big picture, the originarity scores more than fluency and imagination. Imagination scores the lowest.2. Pre-school children have unique age characteristics in their creative development.4 (years old) is an approximate turning point for creative ability development. In detail, children in bottom classes have the best originarity in creativity, while middle class children score the lowest. However, the middle class children have the best thought fluency. The imagination has a reversed relationship with age.3. Father involvement, as the result shows, is not a frequent activity. It varies greatly on different dimensions. We can sort all the activities by their involvement degree:social work activity, big musle activity, learning quality, art creation, personal care, language activity, small musle activity and cognition activity.4. For fathers with different education backgrounds, there is no great difference in the overall situations of father involvement. But in the large musle activities, small musle activities and language activities, there are remarkable or marginally remarkable differences in father involvement.5. The father involvment on three dimensions (small musel activity, cognition activity and social work activity) has a positive correlation with the development of children's creativity.6. The father involvement in children's small musle activity has a positive correlation with the fluency and originarity of chidren's creativity.7. The contribution of father involvement to cognition activity, small musle activity and social work activity is～10.5%. And the contribution of cognition is～8.6%, which is remarkable. But the contribution of the other 2 dimensions is small.8. The father involvement in small musle activity contributes remarkably (～4.8%) to the creativity's fluency dimension.9. The father involvement in small musle activity contributes remarkably (～7.1%) to the creativity's originarity dimension.
