The purpose of this study is to find a practical way for improving college students' interpersonal communication effectively with the means of art group counseling. The study is on the base of the art group counseling for college students who has interpersonal troubles in varying degrees. The study combines the methods of quantitative research and qualitative research.The first study is on intervention research of art group counseling. This study employs the experimental designing mode of the experiment-group and the control-group before and after measurement. The experiment group was provided art group counseling for 8 times, once a week, and was not provided to the control group. The experimental results were compared between within-group and between-group. It is help for evaluating the effect. The research conclusions are as follow:Art group counseling is help for improving college students' interpersonal relationship, social avoidance and the distress. There are significant differences between the pre-test and post-test effect of the experiment group. The experiment group differs significantly compared with a control group.Art group counseling is effective for eliminating Interaction anxiousness and loneliness of college students. There are significant differences between the pre-test and post-test effect of the experiment group, but not in the control group.The college students are satisfied with art group counseling which helps them to boost their self-confidence, interpersonal communication skill and mental health. It helps them to do self-exploration.The second study is on the centralized model of art group counseling. In the A phase, all members were not provided with counseling. While in the B phase, they were provided with intervention of centralized model. The research conclusions are as follow:The centralized model of art group counseling is help for improving college students' interpersonal relationship, social avoidance and distress, loneliness, interaction anxiousness. There are significant differences between the pre-test and post-test especially involving some subscales such as conversing, communication, interpersonal, opposite sex relationship, social avoidance and social distress.The third study is qualitative research on art group counseling. Based on collecting and analyzing the textual information of the art group counseling, the conclusions are as follow:The main factors that can influence the college students' interpersonal communication are as follow:bad at expressing their feelings and thoughts, lack of communication with others, excessively emotional, lack of confidence and too egotistical.College students should master principle and techniques such as good faith in communication, keeping a promise, paying attention to "degree" of the grasp, remembering people's names accurately, listening carefully and to be positive in communication with others.The influences of the art group counseling:It makes the communication between college students more harmonious. It helps students to vent the harmful emotion and to attain emotional stability. It helps students to be more positive in communication and be more harmonious in communication with the opposite sex.Students harvested a lot in the process. They experienced the growth of the spirit through the unique way to express themselves artistically. They undertook thorough self-exploration, and they learned many precious experiences.College students speak highly of art group counseling. It is appropriate to carry out in universities.
