We try to explore a new way of Chinese language teaching, which means introducing the cultural origin and background knowledge when teaching Chinese words. The purpose is to improve foreign learner's ability to understand and infer meanings of Chinese words.First of all, the article discusses the combination with theoretical and practical values of Methods of teaching traditional Chinese culture.Then we choose two Chinese words "xin" "huo" as examples. All the words in the outline are collected based on these two words as the target of research, and we introduce a teaching method of importing Chinese traditional culture. These two example words and words composed of them as morpheme are used in authentic teaching, and is supported by multi-media devices, which includes vivid pictures and cartoons to assist students to understand the abstract meaning of the words. Students are requested to take written quiz and then analyze the result of the quiz, so I do some comparison with the student of traditional teaching class in terms of the understanding and the ability of guessing on new words.Therefore I explore the positive effect and influence of culture background knowledge upon foreign learners when they study Chinese words. During the research, we find that the traditional knowledge of culture is helpful to improve students'understanding and memory, as well as the guessing ability when they meet with new words. I also further explore the positive effect on the motivation and interest of students.
