Passive sentences exist in both English and Chinese. It is an important form to express the passive voice. In addition, most of second language learners have difficulties in them. This paper attempts to describe the major differences in the scale, the structure, the meaning and the use of English and Chinese passive sentences. It also tries to explain the reasons for the differences.
