During the practical vocabulary teaching process, we found medium and high level students show great interests in ABAC pattern. But by studying students' errors, we find that this pattern, which can represent the characteristics of Chinese, is a difficult point not only for Chinese -learning but for Chinese-teaching. ABAC pattern is one of the problems which need to make a thorough study in Chinese. Till now, we haven't found any study that combines ABAC pattern with the second language teaching. This paper serves the second 1 anguage teaching, meanwhile, Reflect the special feature of Chinese ABAC pattern, so this study has great theoretical and practical significance.This paper includes five chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the cause of choosing this problem and the general situation of former studies, proves study limits and clarifies interrelated concepts. In addition, in view of the mingled situation of sentence structures and patterns, this chapter puts forward the concepts of "big pattern" and "small pattern", to make clear the belonging of ABAC pattern in teaching system. This chapter also shows the source of language materials and study methods.Based on the study of Chinese ABAC pattern and from the three levels of semantic, grammar and pragmatics, Chapter 2 sums up the features and laws of ABAC pattern and analyzes ABAC pattern from not only combinatorial laws of structure types, semantic features, tones order and meaning order, but syntax and pragmatic function. It i s found that most ABAC patterns are coordinates structure, while structure consisting of a modifier and the word it modifiers have the advantage in the internal structure between A and B, A and C. The function of A is various, most of which are noun, verb, adjective and adverb; nouns occupy the most part in BC, and then are verbs and adjectives. On the basis of literal meaning, the meaning of ABAC, as a whole, is summarized, extended and abstracted. According to the different degrees of their meanings, this chapter makes a semantic classification on ABAC, and firstly introduces derogatory style and curtail structure to classify ABAC . The tone order of ABAC are even, oblique and the same tone, and its semantic order is interrelated.
