In the Chinese phonetic system, the tone occupied an important position. Tone plays the role of distinguishing the meaning of a syllable. Yet most language in the world have no tone. Even a small number of languages with tone, which tone pitch is not the same with Chinese tone. Therefore, tone learning is a nodus when learning Chinese as a foreign language. There are three kinds of language in the world: one is tone language, such as Chinese, Thai; the second is stress language, such as English,Spanish; the last one is languages with no tone or stress, such as Korean, French. In consideration of the application value of the research, this survey starts from the pitch change of foreign students' mother tongue, discussing the tone bias in learning Chinese as a second language of the students from Thailand, Korea and whose native language is Spanish, which has large number of abroad students studying in China. In the experiment I take 22 groups of monosyllabic words as the basic investigation object, come t.3o the conclusion that foreign students may meet different difficulties when learning Chinese tone if their native language's phonetic system are not the same. Then basing on the conclusion, I further propose suggestions for improving TCSL tone teaching and learning.
