The piano ballade Yearing for the Secular World, composed for the one-acter ballet with the title by Zhu Jian-er, occupies a critical pole in his composing career. With great structure and uncommon vehemence, the work is presented in sonata form, develops drama details and depicts the heart world of persons, expressing to the affirmation of human nature, in which way, it can give us philosophical thinking. Therefore, the work links the preceding and the following in New China's composing history of large-scale piano sonata. It is also an excellent piano cultural heritage about musical teaching and performing. Through meticulous analysis of the piano ballade Yearing for the Secular World and my personal performing experience, I am attempting, in the way of piano teaching and performing, to scoop out the realistic meaning in teaching and performing.
