The Chinese syntax in middle ancient period undertakes the characteristics of that of remotes ages and initiates that of the modern times. It fully reflects the form alternation of the old and the new syntax. It is an important period in the history of Chinese syntax. Family Instructions of Yan Clan, which was finished in middle ancient period, also reflects some development of the Chinese syntax. The thesis is based on the Explanation of the Collection about Family Instructions of Yan Clan of WangLiqi. It gives all-sided analysis and objective description to the simple sentences and compound sentences mentioned in this book, and gives us the during and synchronic comparison appropriately.The thesis adopts the method of combining quantitative and qualitative analysis in analyzing all the sentences' structure in Family Instructions of Yan Clan. When classifying all the sentences in Family Instructions of Yan Clan, the thesis first considers Family Instructions of Yan Clan in accordance with whether or not to express the full meaning of the relative isolation of the sentence, and then, takes it as the standard that "a sentence is an independent syntactic structure, not syntactic structure of the other ingredients", and separates the single sentences with the complex sentences. The single sentences are inspected in according to their main structure and the different nature of their predicates. The complex sentences are mainly inspected their first level to start with. Then the thesis sums up the thirteen types of complex sentences in Family Instructions of Yan Clan in accordance with their first level and counts the number of each type of complex sentences and the types and quantity of the marker words used in the first level of clause. The thesis also takes into account the analysis and the generalization of the characteristics of the complex sentences which have more than two levels and the use of marker words. The syntax in Family Instructions of Yan Clan is mostly inherited the development characteristics of the pre-Qin period, and the characteristics reflected by certain types of sentences accord with the grammar development of Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties. May this thesis could provide some reference materials and information to Chinese syntax research by describing the picture of syntax and analyzing syntax data.
