Since 1950s to now, a lot of screen-style murals were founded in the tombs of Han dynasty and Sui and Tang period in China. some of these murals painted screen behind Portrait in the tomb murals as a background furniture. some of were painted around the coffin bed to imitate real life, then drawing characters, landscapes, flowers and birds in the screen. they formed a unique tomb murals .Based on these screen-style murals, combined with the historical documents and achievements of precedents, the thesis trying to give a more comprehensive discussion about screen style murals from Northern dynasty to Sui and Tang dynasties . The study include the following four aspects:Firstly, to discuss the layout and content of screen-style murals in Northern dynasty - Sui and Tang dynasties. because of the discovery about screen-style murals of Tang dynasty is more abundant, so I also analyze their change in this period.Secondly, the part is about discuss archaeological findings of early physical screen. Focus the origins of ancient screen in China and the changes of its shape and function, so as to find the source of reality for the screen-style murals in tombs.Thirdly, I will discuss some subject of screen-style murals relates to figure painting, landscape painting, flower and bird paintings , and so on .they are not only reflect the ideology and aesthetic standards, also displayed the basic outlook of the Tang dynasty painting . In this chapter , the following questions will be discussed respectively: 1.Spreading and functional changes about the subject of "old man and tree" in burial; 2.Six screen-style landscape painting of zhu jia dao cun village tomb and the development of ink landscape painting in Tang dynasty; 3. The independent subject painting of flowers and birds in Tang dynasty tombs.In a word, as an important part of the tomb murals, the study of screen-style murals will help us more deeply understanding the concept of burial ritual, ideology and aesthetic taste in this phase.
