Under the influence of the ancient people' s idea of "death is like life",the screen of indoor daily display in real life often becomes the theme of the murals in tombs. In the tomb murals of the han and tang dynasties, the screen images gradually changed from the image elements marking the tomb owners in the feast pictures to the painting carriers with independent subjectivity, and the screen surface changed from "plain screen" to the pictures with specific themes. The object of this paper is the screen murals with specific themes painted on the screen surface in the tombs of the tang dynasty.Screen murals were popular in tombs of the tang dynasty, and the murals contained subjects such as figures, landscapes, flowers and birds. There is a special type of screen murals with characters, namely the figure under the tree, which was widely spread before tianbao in tang dynasty, and was found in shaanxi, shanxi, ningxia, xinjiang, gansu and other places. From the perspective of picture composition, the content of these figures under the tree is the combination of "trees" and "figures".From the perspective of picture theme, they can be divided into "ladies under the tree" and "scholars under the tree".From the perspective of geographical distribution, the contents of screen murals in different regions show obvious regional differences. In shanxi, filial piety stories and ancient sages and hermit are dominant;in shaanxi, the secular life of fashion ladies and ancient sages and hermit are dominant;in other regions, ancient sages and hermit are dominant.According to the parallelism of burial dates and screen murals,"the scholar under the tree" and "the lady under the tree" should develop in parallel rather than the scholar' s view that "the lady under the tree originates from "the scholar under the tree".
