Ba Zhong Dialect which belongs to Cheng du-Chong qing dialect of north dialectsouthwest bureaucratese is one of Si Chuan Dialects. Few forefathers are engaged in study of Ba Zhong dialectIn point of achievements in dialect study, Si Chuan dialect investigation organized by many scholars in the 1950s, is comparatively systematic,which depicts Ba Zhong phoneme all-around and systematically. Besides,local chronicles compiled by Ba Zhong local government in the 1990s describes Ba Zhong dialect from angles of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar On the basis of achievements made by predecessors, chronically and synchronically I will describe Ba Zhong dialect overall and systematically from the ways of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar. This thesis falls into the following parts: part one, a surveyof Ba Zhong dialect which mainly introduces some basic situations of geography and population in Ba Zhong dialect area, and makes sure of an object of investigation, time data given and survey of study Ba Zhong dialect. Part two, phonetics system of Ba Zhong dialect which illustrates the rules of combination on the initial of a syllable, the final of a syllable and the four tones of modern standard Chinese pronunciation,tonesandhi and erhua . Part there, the system of the initial of a syllable of Ba Zhong dialect and its historic evolution which shows the development of the initial of a syllable, the final of a syllable and the four tones of modern standard Chinese pronunciation by comparing with Guang Yun which was compiled by Chinese linguist in Song dynasty. Part four ,simple illustration of vocabulary and grammar that illustrates vocabulary differences between Ba Zhong dialect and standard Chinese pronunciation by listing different words which have the same meanings but pronounce differently and describes comparatively exceptional grammatical phenomena.Description-linguistics, Chinese-dialectology, historic comparison linguistics, and sociolinguistics are applied to this thesis for studying.
