As a kind of old ideogram, the characteristics of Chinese character is different from European alphabetic writing. As one kind of culture composition, Chinese characters are not only helpful communication tool and written symbol, but also a carrier and important part of Chinese culture. Based on this prospective, the concept of"cultural composition of Chinese character"was proposed: Not only strokes, but also culture are important factors of Chinese characters. The configuration of Chinese likes a human, if various strokes construct its profile and backbone, then the specific culture constitute its mind and soul.The interpretation to cultural composition of Chinese character provides a new thinking for Chinese character education. Traditional education of Chinese character strive merely for the quantity and speed of learning, making the study of Chinese character simplify to a skill training of how to use Chinese. Instrumental instruction thoughts annihilated cultural composition of Chinese character and made Chinese character education rambled out of Chinese character itself and thus get nothing to the point. Proposing cultural composition in Chinese character education is a reconstruction of traditional instrumental instruction thoughts and style. From a perspective of cultural composition, Chinese character education can be reduced to a solid and plump process: Exploit and utilize cultural composition thoroughly to edify the students, especially enhance the understanding and experience of national culture, so that the students can learn Chinese easily, mould their characters, enhance culture refinement. Not only facilitate the formation of the life of individual, but also give full play to the cultural function of Chinese character education.The present thesis will discuss in the following four parts:The first part is the connotation, representation of cultural composition of Chinese character and its affordance to Chinese character education. From the relationship of Chinese character and culture, this part revealed the natural flesh-and-blood ties between Chinese character and culture, explained the connotation of cultural composition, listed the representation and affordance to Chinese character in objective, content, and method, confirmed the cultural value and function of Chinese character education.The second analyzed the phenomenon of"cultural invisibility"and its cause. Cultural invisibility is a long term status cased by Instrumental instruction thoughts. Based on the essential value of Chinese character education, by presenting teaching fragments, we analyzed the evils such as mechanism, impatience, absence of cultural connotation exposed in present Chinese character education. The reasons were seeked from four aspects: allocation of function and value of Chinese character, evaluation criteria of Chinese character education, teachers and edit of textbooks.The third part is the feasibility and purpose of proposing cultural composition in Chinese character education. The feasibility was firstly demonstrated in two aspects: One is the confirmation of cultural composition of Chinese character education. Meanwhile, the development of hieroglyphic writing to abstraction symbol is similar with the process from image thinking to logic thinking. In order to elucidate that proposing cultural composition in Chinese character education is feasible and necessary, the purpose was discussed in four aspects: arouse interest of studying and improve efficiency of studying; thinking training and improve thinking character; excavate aesthetic connotation and cultivate sense of beauty; experience culture attractiveness and arouse emotional experience.The fourth part is the teaching exploration of excavation of cultural composition. Cultural function and value were restated. Following the cognitive development and cultural formulation of Chinese character and according to the new standard and the section of Chinese character education proposed by WangNing, The Chinese character education in compulsory education was devided into three phases: initial accumulation, interim development, and subsequent cultivation. According to different emphasis, specific teaching strategy was proposed for each phase in order to enlighten and direct the teaching practice of Chinese character education in compulsory education.
