National Sovereignty In The Eu Enlargement Process Research

Accompanying with the development of globalization, the co-operation among countries and International organizations springs up frequently; hence the amortization of the state sovereignty emerges. Since 1990s, the European Union (EU) was active in eastward expansion together with deepening integration, striving to involve the eastern European countries which had belonged to former Soviet socialist bloc into the EU so that it could became the largest regional international organization with the highest degree of integration in the world. It was the embodiment of the highest level of the amortization of the national sovereignty. Therefore, the research of the specific examples in the course of the development of the EU makes it more objective and clear to get acquaint with the development of the amortization of the state sovereignty, which is of important theoretical and practical significance to understand and study the amortization of the state sovereignty in the process of the development of the international organizations.On the basis of a full study of the research achievements at home and abroad, taking the eastern enlargement carried out by the EU as a starting point, this thesis attempts to make an analysis of its background, causes, achievements as well as problems, revealing the amortization of the state sovereignty in the course of the EU eastern expansion . This thesis includes four chapters.Chapter one introduces the evolution of the theory of the national sovereignty. It expounds the development of the theory from the absolute national sovereignty to the relative national sovereignty in order to draw forth the relevant theoretical basis (the sovereign amortization), which lays a theoretical foundation for the study of the amortization of the state sovereignty in the course of the EU eastern enlargement.Chapter two focuses on the history and development of the EU eastern expansion. It first makes a simple review of the development of the EU and then provides a transition to the EU eastern expansion to be analyzed. Next, it makes an analysis of the history, the stage division and the causes of the EU eastern enlargement.Chapter three analyzes the amortization of the state sovereignty in the process of the EU eastern expansion, centering on five issues. Firstly, it demonstrates the expression and features of the amortization of the state sovereignty in the process of the EU eastern expansion. Secondly, it discusses its difficulties and reasons. Finally, it simply analyzes the relationship between the EU eastern expansion and the national sovereignty of the member states.Chapter four illustrates the influence and the enlightenment of the EU eastern enlargement. It mainly focuses on the effect of the EU eastern enlargement on the theory of the amortization of the state sovereignty and the development of European integration as well as the inspiration of the EU eastern enlargement.
