| Women's social status is the natural scale of a country's material and spiritual civilization as well as an important measure of its harmonious development. In China, the role of women in rural areas directly reflects the situation of the harmonious development of society; the improvement of rural women's role serves as the important foundation for both the boosting of Chinese agriculture and the harmonious development of society. Based on this, it is exploring and studying on the transformation of rural women's role as well as summarizing the history of women's liberation that have a profound practical significance for today's socialist construction.After the founding of new China, Chinese women liberation movement leaped into a new stage. With the support from government and the promoting of women liberation movement, Chinese rural women's role changed unprecedentedly in 1950s. Combining with mass media and with Chinese Women as main references, this thesis found that Chinese rural women's role has been improved in different aspects through comparison of the situation of women's role. However, lots of problems appeared along with the improvement of women's role. As a result, this paper will also analyze the characteristics of this phenomenon and evaluate it objectively in order to explore the internal dynamic and historical limitation of Chinese rural women's liberation.This paper argues that though there were still various problems, the 1950s role improvement of rural women who were used to be oppressed by feudal thought was unprecedented both at home and overseas. In addition, it is inevitable that there are always many shortages in the construction of the new regime. However, Chinese rural women's qualities and abilities have been improved a lot and their social status has been changed fundamentally, which just reflects the socialism superiority. And only under the socialist system, rural women's social statues can be changed basically in such a short time. |
