Environmental Carrying Capacity

It's necessary to improve the environmental carrying capacity for realizing the sustainable development of the society and economy. Environmental carrying capacity is the ability of the regionally environmental system to withstand all social and economic activities under certain time-space conditions to maintain the harmony between human-being and the natural environment. Environmental carrying capacity is the cornerstone of the sustainable development.Taken Xuzhou City as the research subject, this paper analysis the city's environmental carrying capacity and put forward feasible measures to improve the city's environmental carrying capacity. The basic theories of the paper are the environmental carrying capacity theory and the sustainable development theory. Firstly, this paper describes the research background and meaning. Then it describes the status and deficiency of the related theory and the environmental carrying capacity. And it establishes the environmental assessment method of the single element. This paper analysis and appraise the situation, the load-carrying state and influence factors of the water environment, atmospheric environment and the land environment on the understanding of the natural economic and social development background of Xuzhou City. This paper analyzes national environmental policies in different historical stages and the impact on the environment of the actual implementation of Xuzhou City. Finally, according to Xuzhou city's development plan, it put forward relevant measures to improve environmental carrying capacity in order to build a resource-conserving, and environment-friendly city and realize the coordinated developments between the economy and society.
