With the development of the economy and society, our living level has been improved greatly. China now has stepped into the stage of ageing population. However, the transformations of the population and family have made it more difficult for the family to support the aged people. On the one hand, the younger population has been facing great pressure from both material and spirit aspects to support the aged population. On the other hand, the pension institutions can’t meet the social requirement both on quantity and quality. Based on that, we must explore and innovate the pension model to support the aged.First this article is to introduce the background and meaning of the research, summarize the research achievements of city support for the aged and list the theoretical tools and research methods. Then the article is to define the relevant concepts, describe the current situations of present types of the city support for the aged. On this basis, the article analyzes what the existing urban pension mode in China is facing. For example, the burden of family pension is big while the pension service is low, etc, and analyzes the internal and external causes of the problem. And then introduces the current models of city support for the aged in Britain and Japan and summarizes the excellent experiences, such as combination of community health care and pension, introducing social operation, etc. Based on this, considering the actual situation of our country, the article puts forward 8 strategies to optimize our urban pension.
