On The Role Of Information Technology To Enhance The International Competitiveness Of Enterprises - Ship Enterprise Information Practice Research

With the rapid development of IT (information technology) and Internet worldwide, the leading shipbuilding enterprises in the world have been strengthening their buildup on Informationization and have been trading by EC (Electronic Commerce). This paper first analyzes the advantages and significance of EI (Enterprise Informationization), suggesting that Informationization can help solve the critical problems in EM (Enterprise Management) and can enhance enterprise's international competitiveness.Based on the introduction to China shipbuilding industry and its features, this paper presents that Informationization can promote Industrialization, strengthen China shipbuilding industry and enhance enterprise's international competitiveness. This paper summarizes the three stages of Informationization development of China shipbuilding enterprises, and concludes that their development of Informationization and EC still lies in the primary stage. This paper applies related theory to practices, and presents that: In addition to the wide application of computer-aided shipbuilding techniques such as CAD, CAM, CAPP, China shipbuilding enterprises' Informationization should focus on EM Informationization with the target of building up enterprise's MIS (Management Information System) such as ERP and CIMS. Moreover, the key of EI is management innovation and improvement of EM. From aspects of enterprise data management, financial management, HRM (human resource management), SCM (supply chain management) and CRM (customer relationship management), this paper mainly discusses how the shipbuilding enterprises could integrate IT into the industry's features to achieve management innovation and EM Informationization so as to enhance their international competitiveness. This paper also analyzes as a case the Informationization development, achievements and problems of Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Corporation. This paper believes that her model of CIMS could be widely applied among China shipbuilding enterprises. Finally, this paper summarizes the problems and difficulties of EI development of China shipbuilding enterprises and suggests focus of future EI development. As Internet and EI develop rapidly, this paper also introduces the development of EC in shipbuilding industry worldwide and envisions the future development of EC in China shipbuilding industry.This paper incorporates theory with practice, and explores the key measures for EI development in China shipbuilding industry, which are both practical and beneficial for shipbuilding enterprises' Informationization development.
