Qilu Petrochemical Corporation, Material Management Information System Planning

Corporate competitiveness has become a key factor to its development in the 21st century, the information era. An information system for supplies management (SMIS) can be established to help making the overall corporate supplies management system get sensitive to information, reasonable in management, and correct in decision making, and to make it get a higher level, and finally achieve the aim of enhancing corporate competitiveness in market.First of all this thesis argues for the: important role the supplies management plays in enhancing corporate competitiveness, and introduces its relevant concepts such as MRP, MRPH, ERP and so on. Secondly, it analyses the current situation of QILU Petrochemical Company' s supplies.management, and pointed out its problems existing in business process and organization layout. In order to solve these problems, using the ERP and supplies chain management concept as guidance and the business system planning method as a tool, the author propose a new SMIS as a target for Qilu. In his proposal, he reorganizes the supplies process, plans the overall structure for the new SMIS, defines its subsystem' s function, gives a brief demonstration of the way to develop SMIS and of the effects the organization has on the implementation of SMIS, and studies the potential problem of safety during system implementation.The SMIS proposed in this article can be used as a reference by other supplies management departments in the line of petrochemical.
